In GAZE worden drie vrouwen in een gigantisch terrarium tentoongesteld. Gevangen in een wereld waarin kijken en bekeken worden de maatstaf is, onderzoeken ze welke rol hun lichaam (nog) kan, wil en mag spelen in hun queeste naar erkenning.
In deze danstheatervoorstelling brengt choreografe Laura Neyskens een overmoedige ode aan de erfzonde en trekt ze in de aanval tegen de hypocrisie van de deugdzaamheid. Samen met dramaturg Raphaël Vandeweyer gaat ze op zoek naar welke macht ons lichaam heeft. Op een beeldende, anarchistische en poëtische manier onderzoeken ze hoe dominante verhalen ons lichaam vormen en welke impact dat heeft in een wereld waarin we bovenal (graag) gezien willen worden.

In GAZE, three women are exhibited in a gigantic terrarium. Trapped in a world where watching and being watched are the yardstick, they explore what role their bodies (still) can, want and are allowed to play in their quest for recognition.
In the visual dance-theatre performance GAZE, choreographer Laura Neyskens delivers a bold tribute to original sin and launches an attack on the hypocrisy of virtue. Together with dramaturg Raphaël Vandeweyer, she explores the power of our bodies. In a visually striking, anarchistic, and poetic way, they research how dominant stories shape us and determine our bodies and what impact this has in a world where, above all, we want to be seen and loved.
